If you are serious about sanding wooden floors — in other words it’s your job and you need to do it perfectly every time, especially the edges — then this heavy-duty sander is for you. Not only is it heavy duty, it’s heavy too — about 40lb. It is not for the lady hobbyist, anyone with back problems or the faint-hearted.

This is a well-designed edger, made without casters so it can be used on soft woods. A nylon bar glides along the floor eliminating wheel marks and cutting a flatter pattern. The manufacturers tout it as a “dustless” edger, using an over-sized vacuum fan and chamber.

It is manufactured from tough aluminum alloys for extremely rugged use. The machine includes a 7″ disc pad of rubber backed with steel. This is a precision-balanced machine, delivering 3600 RPM. The package includes a 25 ft. power cord with twist lock connectors and a standard plug, a dust bag and a wrench. The body of the Silver Line Floor Edger is 10″ in diameter, 13″ in height and powered by a 1.5 HP Universal Motor off 115 Volt AC.

Do you need a sander, and how do you choose one easily from the large variety in the market? As you increase your skill in wood working you will realize that finishing woodworking takes the longest time. Your project will not look good unless you really work at it and get it finished and polished in to good condition. But the sanding and polishing required for finishing projects takes a lot of time.

You can cut the time required in half by getting a power sander to do the job for you. The Makita Finishing Sander (BO3700X6) is just one such power tool which is really useful to get your projects in top condition for showcasing. All you have to do is attach the sand paper to the machine and the device does its work. The Makita Finishing Sander (BO3700X6) is one tool which is used to hand sand surfaces. You can easily change the sandpaper by using a tiny clip at the base and then go ahead with the process. It moves in a circular motion to sand the surface and there is a special chip collection bag to prevent the dust from getting in to your eyes.

For any wood working project to look good you should be able to get the finish and polishing done really well. But that does really take up a whole lot of your time and effort.

As a result, to save time you can get your self a power sander to get sanding done looking great and professional. For example, the Skil Belt Sander (7500) is one such professionally used model commonly used by almost all wood working professionals.

The best advantage offered by this model is the ease of use as well as the really great appearance it has. The design is minimalist for easy use. It runs on a 6amp motor and has a powder collector to prevent dirt accumulation in your workshop. As it’s a belt sander you have the advantage of having a running round or strip of sandpaper which is placed across two separate running wings. As you turn the drive wheel and it starts up, the belt starts to spin and then it removes the old paper, too. Belt sanders are the best power tools to be used for the initial stages of polishing as well as the rougher sanding jobs. These work much faster than normal, and you can try to be careful, too.

The Skil Belt Sander (7500) costs, $49.99
